Something in the Air Released November 11, 2006 Recorded at Four Prong E Studios Produced by Lance Lander and Chad Walls Mixed by Lance Lander and Chad Walls |
In August of 2003 Erik Thompson called Lance Lander, owner of Four Prong E studios, to record Lo-fi's second full-length record. Lance had just recently finished a major expansion and renovation to his studio. The newly expanded and equiped studio was built to accomadate live ensemble recordings. They started with the basic tracks, drums, bass, ryhthm guitar, and a scratch vocal track. After all the songs had been recorded the band took the rough mixes home to listen and decide which direction to continue. After several months playing the new songs in various venues around the Metroplex the group felt they needed to expand their sound by adding a fourth musician. After debating who would be the best fit, the group decided to ask their engineer to join. So in March of 2004 Lance Lander became the lead guitarist and keyboard player for Lo-Fi Chorus, making his debut at the Wake-up '04 festival in Denton. With the new change in the lo-fi sound also came the need to re-arrange the songs that had been previously recorded. In the Fall of 2005 the band returned to the studio and re-recorded most of the songs. The group recorded the tracks whenever they could find time between gigs and day-jobs. The recording process went quickly and with Lance now on the other side of the glass Chad Walls would share the engineering duties. By Spring 2006 the songs were ready to be mixed. Lance and Chad worked together for several months mixing until they were satisfied. In may 2006 Lance and Chad went to Crystal Clear for mastering. The band felt the Fall would be the best time to release their second CD. |
